the queen city chapter. for the South that doesn't announce itself.
A pickleball tee for the people who actually play.
Built on Comfort Colors 1717 — a heritage heavyweight blank with a cult following among people who care how a shirt wears in year three. 6.1 ounces of ring-spun US cotton, garment-dyed in Vermont, double-needle stitched, and knit without side seams so it hangs straight on the body.
Every design is an original watercolor, painted town by town. No clipart. No stock graphics. Each chapter of the Country Tour is a real place we've translated to cotton.
A particular kind of person plays pickleball in Charlotte. The morning round in Myers Park before the humidity sets in. A walk back under the willow oaks. A long lunch somewhere quiet, then back to the club for the afternoon match. They've been in Charlotte long enough to remember when nobody outside the Carolinas had heard of it. They like it that way.
This is their tee.
The cotton. 100% ring-spun US cotton, 6.1 oz per square yard (207 gsm). Heavyweight enough to drape. Soft enough to sleep in.
The dye. Pigment-dyed in the garment — the color is washed into the cotton after the shirt is sewn, not before. That's why the white reads warm instead of stark, and why it gets softer with every wash instead of breaking down.
The construction. Built without side seams. Knit in one piece using tubular construction, so the shirt hangs straight on the body and doesn't twist out of shape over time. Double-needle stitching on every seam — the kind that holds after a hundred washes. Pre-shrunk in the dye bath, so the fit you pull out of the box is the fit you keep.
The blank. Comfort Colors 1717. The heavyweight that built a cult following on one thing — the way it wears in instead of out.
The print. Watercolor design reproduced with archival pigment inks. The print lives inside the cotton, not on top of it, for a softer hand and deeper color that survives the wash cycle.
Care.
- Machine wash cold, inside out (max 30°C / 90°F)
- Tumble dry on low heat, or hang to dry
- Wash with like colors the first cycle — pigment dye does its thing
- Iron on low heat if needed; do not iron the print
- Do not bleach
- Do not dry clean
The cut.
Relaxed, boxy, and built to be worn loose. Wide neckline that sits just off the collarbone, dropped shoulder that doesn't pinch, generous through the body. The kind of fit that drapes instead of clings — designed to look good on a wider range of bodies than most tees.
How it runs.
Take your usual size for the relaxed fit.
Size down one for closer to the body.
If you're between sizes, size down — the tee is generous through the body, so the smaller size still has room.

Tolerance: ±1.5" per measurement. Garment-dyed cotton has slight natural variance from shirt to shirt — part of the heritage character.
